Stallone *foster to adopt* Chihuahua Adult Male in Oakdale, Minnesota

My story
About Stallone:

Hello, My name is Stallone! I am a 6 year old Chihuahua mix.  I live up to my big action hero name with my big action hero personality. I have some behavior issues that will need a very dog savvy person to work with me, but my snuggles and love I give in return make it worth it!

I am believed to have about 10-12 homes in my short 6 years, and it has given me some trust issues. I have a hard time with new people. I also resource guard my belongings. If I have a bone, toy, treat, or even my kennel, I show reactivity when someone comes near. But we are working on that! I also prefer not to be picked up or having someone snuggle me tight. I love to sit on laps and be near you, but I am much like a cat where I need things to be on my terms! After a while, I become more trusting. Due to my behavioral needs, I will do best in a home without children. I have been tested shortly around a dog savvy toddler and very closely supervised and done well. The people in my home need to commit to respecting my boundaries 100% of the time. I might grow to be ok in visits from children, but I need my home to be my safe space. I will thrive in a quiet home, as I don't enjoy too much commotion, noise or fast moving people, as those things cause me stress. I have a lot of small triggers that we are slowly discovering (my foster will help you understand these), but I typically give warnings when something is scaring me. We are working to figure out what all of them are and how to best deal with them.

I do have many lovable qualities about me!! My foster thinks I am one of the most handsome little dudes. I weigh just about 5 pounds and have wiry hair. I am told I feel like a tiny pig.  People seem to think it's super cute. I LOVE car rides and adventures. Going on walks is the best part of my day. I have even gone camping and had the time of my life! I also am very loving and loyal to my people. I always want to be where you are and know what you are up to. I can be a bit overprotective, but I make a great guard dog. I will always let you know when there is a bump in the house to worry about. I am quiet for the rest of the time though. I bark very little. I am good with dog friendly cats and haven't met a dog I don't like yet. I would love another dog to play with! I am also crate trained like a pro. I like to sleep in there all night and when you are out of the house. I am a potty trained champ when I am kept on a schedule and kenneled when left alone. I might have accidents if I miss my schedule, so I am trained to use a belly band just in case and do really well with it!

I would love to find my home that will keep me forever and work with me! Please reach out with any questions about Stallone!
